Born in Germany, he studied art in the Basel School of Design in Switzerland and the Cooper Union in New York. He won the Gold prize in 1993 Morisawa Type Design Competition with Lance font family, 4 typefaces among which were chosen as one of the “100 Best Typefaces of All Time” from ATypl Bukva;raz! Award. He got invited as a master of PaTI in 2016 and currently he is an alphabet director of Yoon Design.
